The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has launched the National Network for Drugs and Medical Products Safety During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding.
Unveiled at the Global Health Exhibition (held in Riyadh from October 27–30), this network aims to be Saudi Arabia’s largest data source for evaluating the safety of drug use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It has integrated approximately 267,500 records of pregnant women and linked 112,000 records of mothers and newborns using hospital health data.
SFDA plans to extend this network to include more health entities from the public and private sectors to provide extensive, reliable data. This initiative strengthens Saudi Arabia’s leadership in maternal and infant safety and supports the Health Sector Transformation Program aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
