The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has launched the Regulatory AI System for Incoming Drugs (RASID), a smart service utilizing artificial intelligence to regulate controlled medications carried by travelers.
Unveiled at the Global Health Exhibition (held in Riyadh from October 27–30), RASID marks a shift from traditional monitoring to proactive, data-driven protection.
Developed by Saudi nationals at the SFDA Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL), this system facilitates rapid, accurate matching of controlled medication components with patients' conditions or prescriptions, supporting over 50 languages.
RASID enhances visitor experience by addressing delays due to multilingual medications and handwritten prescriptions.
SAIL is a specialized platform focused on creating and integrating AI-driven technological solutions that boost innovation and enhance the efficiency of the SFDA's regulatory and operational activities.
This initiative supports Saudi Vision 2030's Health Sector Transformation Program by fostering innovation and expanding partnerships with government and tech firms to boost regulatory efficiency and capabilities.
